Kemi Sulola | A song for justice

A Prayer and a message to world-

I first wrote this song some years back after going to a London protest, but never released the song at the time . However since the more recent unfortunate events of black individuals facing police brutalityand many other cases of black people being victim to oppressive and racist systems, I decided to go back to the song.

Due to the current pandemic and state I was unable to go to a real studio to get this together how I initially intended. But I was able to record the vocals myself, write the song and even produce the beat ( along with the help of a couple producers Vmen and mostly Jason Bond Productions who stepped in last minute to help me put the production together so that i can share the message of this song and my prayer for justice!
I hope to use this song to also spread awareness and support a Black organisation dedicated to making a positive change, as such I have made it so that you can make a donation by paying whatever you want for the track! All proceeds will be going to a charity/ organisation of my choice.
I have decided to go with : BLAM Charity
A charity based in Brixton that focuses on education, learning and mental Health and are committed to ensuring that the Black-British community is recognised, represented and appreciated. See more on them here https://blamuk.org/|

a TIME FOR CHANGE| A TIME FOR JUSTICE

WHY NOW?

in light of the police brutality and the many public death cases of black lives such as george floyd, bREONNA TAYLOR AND AHMAUD ARBERY.

The world has been shocked and have seen AND RECOGNISED THE MISTREATMENT OF INDIVIDUALS OF BLACK ORIGIN

it is knowing that during this time and throughout history , due to racist and systemic oppression that black individuals and communities have faced much injustice

. It is time for that oppression to be lifted and for what is right and for the betterment of all man kind to take stage.

it is time for change!

Using the term black lives matter is not to say that other lives do not, of course all lives do, but this cannot be true till black lives are respected throughout the world, whether they are in africa or america. aS MARTIN LUTHER KING SAID 'INJUSTICE anywhere is injustice everywhere. As a human race we must come together to ensure fairness for all.

Nina simone famously said 'its an artists duty to reflect the times' As an upcoming artist and black WOMAN, i feel the plight of this and I wanted to think about what i could do. as such I would like to use my platforms (at all times) but specifically during this time while the movement is strong, to raise more awareness on what is happening and how we can all work together to push for change.

IF WE WANT CHANGE WE MUST EDUCATE OURSELVES As well as take required ACTION.

Below are some resources i HAVE GATHERED THAT YOU CAN FOLLOW ON how you can support THE MOVEMENT, cases of injustice- such as the cases above, black artists in the industry and to help break down racism!.

IF WE WANT CHANGE WE MUST EDUCATE OURSELVES AND THEN ACTION IS REQUIRED
